It was a good experience. The triple room we stayed in were fully-equipped with bath. The location was quiet for walking around a 19th-century zoo.

Sure it is like a home from home. Mazeki was very helpful. Overall I like it.
However, one thing need to pay attention is the air around the room that is the airconditioning. I am sensitive toward dust. The aircon unit is dusty and I keep sneezing.

It was the perfect base from my Tokyo adventure! It allowed me to experience authentic 'Japanese' living plus it's in a great location - the whole of Tokyo is easily accesible from Ueno JR Station. I also really enjoyed staying in a 'neighbourhood' rather than a business district - there were some great local eateries and opportunities to mix with / observe Tokyoites. Finally, I thought that the ryokan staff were very warm, welcoming, and helpful! That's really important when you're such a long way away from home. I will recommend this Ryokan to others.

-The location was very good for the price we paid. -Our room was very spacious. -Free Wifi in our room and in the lobby there are computers with free Internet access.
I don't think I would stay here again because it really does need refurbishing. It was vey worn down.

We stayed 5 days for our first trip to Japan and this was our favorite lodging. We were welcomed by the staff. Traditional rooms were comfortable and clean, and larger than expected. Emphasis on comfort, not luxury. One window for fresh air (no view), and the space heater was toasty even on cold, snowy nights. It was comfortable relaxing here, sitting on the tatami mats, after long days of sightseeing. This seemed like a safe neighborhood, okay to walk at night, and not far from major hub for several train lines A convenience store across the street has good, cheap food/supplies. Free computers in the lounge and access to kitchen and laundry were great. We'd absolutely stay here again. Comfortable, convenient, and a bargain.
